In 1990, Mr. Black founded Apollo Management, L.P., a global alternative asset manager, with a proven track record of successful private equity, distressed debt and mezzanine investing. The firm manages investment capital on behalf of a group of institutional investors and has approximately $27 billion in assets under management. From 1977 to 1990, Mr. Black worked at Drexel Burnham Lambert Incorporated, where he served as Managing Director, head of the Mergers & Acquisitions Group and co-head of the Corporate Finance Department. He serves on the boards of directors of Sirius Satellite Radio Inc., and the general partner of AP Alternative Assets. Mr. Black is a trustee of Dartmouth College, The Museum of Modern Art, Mt. Sinai Hospital, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Prep for Prep, and The Asia Society. He is also a member of The Council on Foreign Relations, The Partnership for New York City and the National Advisory Board of JPMorgan Chase. Mr. Black is also a member of the Board of Faster Cures and the Port Authority Task Force. He graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1973 with a major in Philosophy and History and received an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1975.
