Richard Zhang

Managing Director, Apax Partners

Richard Zhang is a Partner of Apax Partners and the Head of Greater China, leading Apax operations in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia.

Prior to joining Apax, Mr. Zhang was a Director (Senior Partner) of Mckinsey & Company. He had over 15 years of management consulting experience in the U.S. and China. Being the most senior Chinese Partner, Mr. Zhang played a key role in building McKinsey’s China practice into pre-eminence.

Mr. Zhang is an active figure in the Chinese management scene. He has been actively introducing advanced international management practices to China. He frequently speaks at conferences and workshops and writes management thesis for renowned media.

Mr. Zhang has a master’s degree in finance from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Mr. Zhang was the recipient of several major U.S. national scholarship awards and was named to the All-U.S.A. College Academic Team by USA Today in recognition of his outstanding academic accomplishment, leadership, and community service.
